The modular concept of our powder diffraction instruments
All STOE powder instruments are based on the STADI P goniometer, so that cabinet sizes will not change depending on choice of diffractometer. A single STADI P can later on be expanded by a second goniometer on the same source or with a separate source. With the X-ray tube on top, the STADI P COMBI goniometer builds a platform for combinatorial analysis in transmission mode. Placing the X-ray tube housing on rails, so it can be slid to three distances from the sample position and thus changing between convergent and divergent X-ray beams, the STADI MP offers transmission and reflection geometry. Accessories like sample stages can simply be exchanged between different goniometers due to our plug and play approach. Adding air scattering shields on a MYTHEN 4K detector and Ag radiation to a STADI P results in a high-quality in-house PDF machine.
The Single crystal diffractometer concept
The STOE STADIVARI is our modern four circle single crystal diffractometer, manufactured with highest precision (sphere of confusion radius < 5 µm). Its foundation lies on the base plate and electronics housing, 2θ-, ω- and φ-circle. With the eulerian cradle (χ-circle) begins the modularity of the STADIVARI where you have the choice between a fixed χ setup or a χ range up to 90° in our standard program. For specialized requests we have built STADIVARIs with an inverted φ geometry or with a vertically aligned eulerian cradle. As detectors we recommend the high-quality hybrid pixel detectors from DECTRIS, where options include silicon or CdTe sensors and various sizes of active area. However, with the X-Area software, integration of a different detector brand (e.g. RebirX, etc.) is no problem at all.

STOE STADI P
The well-known, high-precision STOE STADI P two circle goniometer is the basis of STOE’s powder diffraction building block system. Vertically or horizontally mounted, the STADI P can be built in Transmission/Debye-Scherrer or Bragg-Brentano geometry. Moreover, two STADI P goniometers, either in the same or different configurations, can be mounted in the same cabinet resulting in two completely independent instruments. However, the two goniometers can also share one source.

  • Various single-photon-counting X-ray detectors
  • Pure Kα1 radiation using Co, Cu, Mo and Ag sources
  • The ultimate platform for laboratory PDF calculations using Ag Kα1 data
  • Transmission/Debye-Scherrer or Bragg-Brentano mode
  • Ideally suited for the analysis of air/moisture-sensitive and microsamples
  • A range of high- and low-temperature attachments available

STADI MP

The STADI MP combines the two most common diffractometer configurations: Transmission/Debye-Scherrer and Bragg-Brentano geometry with an additional set-up for micro-diffraction.

  • Various single-photon-counting X-ray detectors
  • High and low temperature attachements
  • Transmission / Debye-Scherrer, High Flux and Bragg-Brentano mode
  • Geometry selection by sliding tube housing
  • One X-ray optic (Johann type monochromator) for all geometries – no exchange and no realignment necessary
  • All geometries running with pure Co, Cu, Mo or Ag Kα1 radiation

STADI P COMBI

Based on the well-known STADI P, STOE has developed a powder diffractometer for high-throughput and combinatorial measurements in transmission geometry. With its dedicatedly designed sample stage, providing a variable x-y grid for numerous slide-in sample holders, like our 96 sample well plate, the STADI P COMBI offers highest efficiency combined with all the advantages of the STADI P system.

  • High-throughput analysis for phase identification and similarity checks
  • 96-fold sample stage
  • User definable x-y grid
  • Pure Kα1 radiation using Co, Cu, Mo or Ag radiation
  • Transmission geometry

STADIVARI

Being conceptualized to offer a wide scope of applications, the STOE STADIVARI can be set up vertically as well as horizontally. It can be used for single crystal as well as powder diffraction, with the open Eulerian cradle offering enough space for high pressure cells, high- or low-temperature devices or other accessories.
In the dual beam setup, all combinations of tubes and microfocus BDS are possible: two sealed tubes, one sealed tube and one microfocus BDS or two microfocus BDS.
Moreover, the STADIVARI is fully integrated in the well-established STOE X-AREA software package.

  • Flexible goniometer
  • Sphere of confusion of less than 0.005 mm radius
  • Different source solutions (Standard sealed tubes, Microfocus sources, MetalJet or synchroton beam)
  • Ultrafast hybrid pixel detector (full EIGER and PILATUS detector range)
  • Various non-ambient attachments (high and low temperature, high pressure)

IPDS Series

The STOE IPDS series shows unparalleled reliability, is built to serve the scientific needs: e.g. small molecules, proteins and electron density measurements, and gives full accessibility of the sample environment for easy adaptation of high and low temperature attachments as well as high pressure cells.
In addition, the IPDS 2T features the possibility to turn the whole goniometer around the θ axis to an angle of up to 60° yielding a 2θmax of 137°. Moreover, the possibility to add a second source makes it a diffractometer of unique versatility!
The structure solution of small molecules and proteins as well as electron density determination and powder investigations are no challenge for the IPDS 2T.

  • One single instrument for small molecules & proteins
  • High dynamic range (> 1:10⁵)
  • Extremly low background (no dark current)
  • Perfect for weak scatterers
  • Reliable intensities of very weak and very strong reflections within the same frame
  • Long lifetime, low maintenance, low costs of ownership
  • Data collection up to 137° in 2θ (2T)
  • Useful for Co radiation and electron density measurements (2T)
